Vieques, Puerto Rico Destination Wedding | Part One – Welcome | Ian and Jen
All photographs by Lansing wedding photographer Heather K. Please do not edit or download without permission.
One month ago today, Ian Heskitt and Jenifer Massuch vowed to love each other for the rest of their lives- sealed with a kiss, and signed on paper. I’m privileged to tell the story of these wonderful people and the loving friends and family they have.
You might have seen the sneak peek of the gorgeous Trash the Dress session Ian and Jen had down on the beaches of Vieques, Puerto Rico. But despite it’s sunny rainbow-filled (seriously- wait until you see the rainbow!) end, this story begins at a chillier place… Michigan. As we drove to the airport, I couldn’t help but take a photograph of the temperature! (Really? -1?! Are you serious, Michigan? See, this is why people leave you for Florida, once they get old and wise)
Soon, I was in a MUCH warmer, more beautiful place- Puerto Rico! At the airport, I met up with Candice, Kaylei, and Kyle, (and my assistant, Stephanie) and we basked in the glow of the sun after a jostling ride to the ferry.
We took the ferry from the main island out to Vieques. Stephanie, who had been in PR for some time, warned me that the ferry can be a bumpy ride, but thankfully none of us are the boat-sick type.
It was a gorgeous start to the weekend.
From the ferry to another taxi… finally, we arrived at the Casa Piedra Grande!
We had a lot of unpacking and settling to do- not to mention resting for the welcome party!! Later in the night, we headed out to Lazy Jacks, where we met up with Ian, Jen, and the rest of the group!
Drinks were poured, and conversations flowed.. I have to say, I love intimate events like this. Small and comfortable- so everyone can be relaxed. It set the tone for the whole weekend.. good times with good friends!
I love this photograph of Kyle, below, for the love-struck look he’s giving Kaylei… mostly because of what happened later in the weekend.
Spoilers!

At last, the night was over. But there’s a lot more to come!! I’ll be uploading the full gallery of Thursday night’s welcome party at overnight tonight- stay tuned for the link. Update: the Thursday gallery is up! You can view it here! (Be sure to try the “slideshow” option on the upper right.)
