You already know that I loved being Ian and Jen’s wedding photographer for their Puerto Rico wedding last February. But I was also thrilled to be their photographer once more for their Lansing City Market vow renewal at the Waterfront Bar and Grill! It was a gorgeous, HOT day in downtown Lansing…
Ian and Jen had some great ideas for decor around the reception. They hung photographs from their own wedding, as well as old family wedding photos, and included a photobox display.
Soon, the renewal ceremony was beginning. Ian and Jen opted to have it at the top of the stairway, which allowed the crowd below a great view!
The view across the Grand River made for some epic bridal portraits. Sleek and modern- but with Ian and Jen you get cute and ridiculously, ridiculously good looking thrown in as well.
Since we had already gotten some lovely portraits of the wedding party elsewhere, it was time for some *real portraits… (please note below that groomsmen who deny me a silly face earn themselves a pretty darn awesome photoshopped mustache. You’re welcome!)
The great thing about an intimate, relaxed wedding is the fact that it allows the bride and groom to mingle and ENJOY the party!
The sunset over the river was an amazing backdrop for a wedding reception…
Family of the couple made these totally cute cloth napkins! Bold and colorful.
As I wandered around the reception, I noticed a bunch of kids who had discovered a water fountian and were amusing themselves tossing the water around. I got an idea…
They were happy to oblige.
For those wanting to skip high falutin’ wedding food for something closer to “comfort food”, you canNOT go wrong with BBQ!!
The dancing started as the sun began to drift down…
I’d like to give a shout-out to Mixxin DJ’s. Awesome job, guys- you made the reception ROCK.
As I was photographing the dancing action, I spotted a bit of manhug love going on. Way to get in touch with your feelings, bros.
Finally, the sun was down at the party got hot!
And with the moon casting light onto the final dance, it was time to pack up and head for home.
Ian, Jen, family and friends, it was such an incredible journey. I was so glad to be there to capture it for you. Much love!
(stay tuned for the reception photobooth photographs coming soon!)
