Michigan Photographers | Shelby’s Fairy Tale Horse Portrait
As a Michigan wedding photographer, January and February is a time for reflection. The new year of shooting has begun, and newly engaged couples are venturing out into the wedding planning world. (congratulations, new brides and grooms to be!! I know you’re going to have an epic wedding, and I hope I get to be a part of it! Check out my wedding work here) I’m sorting out paperwork, restructuring my workflow, and gearing up for an even better year than last year- and while I do, I’ve been taking a few looks into the past.
The above shot is from a few years back- a senior shoot for someone dear to my heart. It’s not every day you get to photograph a fairy tale, and I loved working with Shelby and her amazing equine friend.
She cared for this beautiful animal until his death, and I hope she gets to look back on her portraits and gets to remember that time with joy. <3

That horse is amazing! Great shot Heather!
The textures and beauty of the background and subjects within it make a portrait that Shelby will surely cherish. I can see why you are a top Michigan wedding photographer!
Such a beautiful image, I know Shelby will love and cherish it!
I really want to know how she got on that horse in those heels! But seriously, what a great idea.
Haha, it wasn’t easy! There was a nearby picnic table she was able to use for leverage with my help. If worse came to worse, we could have always had her climb on shoe-less and put them on post-climb!
What a beautiful horse! <3
Beautiful image, and great way to talk about what you’re up to now!
