“This is how the story begins, at The State News. Derek and I were both Account Executives trying to make the big bucks (while only getting $5 paychecks). We didn’t talk to each other much, until one day Derek needed a ride to visit a client – and I was the one who answered the call.  

After which, we talked music (Cobra Starship) and about half off wine night at Beggar’s Banquet. It wasn’t until a few months later when Derek got the courage to ask me out on a date after a get together from half off wine night.

Skip a few months later – I was graduating MSU and on my way to Ireland for a three month internship. I had no plans of being tied down while overseas. However, Derek had other intentions. He came out to visit me (and the motherland) during my time in Ireland…”

Derek and Zenia have already experienced more adventure in their love story than many couples do in their lifetimes. True partners in life, it’s easy to see that their love and ability to laugh with and at each other is what they are truly about.

I was thrilled to be able to meet them in Petosky for a very special travel-themed session. Below are my very favorites!

We started the day in the gorgeous Bay Harbor area…

Since Derek and Zenia love to travel and are foodies, we had to explore Petosky’s best spots! City Park Grill is SO delicious!

Sweet Maria’s Confections welcomed us with some tasty dessert…

And we hit up a local bookstore to keep warm and explore!
